At Vitafoods Europe, SynBalance showcased its strategic vision for the future of probiotics under the concept “Wake Up Your Core”, highlighting the central role of the gut microbiota in supporting healthy aging and systemic well-being. The company presented scientifically supported probiotic and postbiotic solutions targeting key health areas beyond gut health. This reflects our increasing focus on longevity — developing formulations that support healthy aging and help create a more sustainable healthcare model. We want to prioritize health span over extending lifespan, aiming to improve people’s quality of life.
This approach is encapsulated in the “Wake Up Your Core” concept presented at Vitafoods Europe 2026, a vision that recognizes the gut microbiota as the foundation of overall health and a key driver of systemic homeostasis. As emphasized by the company: “Taking care of your gut microbiota is the start of thousands of benefits”.

Here are the main therapeutic innovations and technical areas of focuses currently driving SynBalance’s pipeline:
1. Innovation in the postbiotic portfolio: the SynbiOFF® line
To meet the growing demand for stable and easy-to-manage formulations, SynBalance has enlarged its SynbiOFF® range of inactivated bacteria. The new postbiotic ingredient for immune health is based on the inactivated L. plantarum PBS067 strain, selected for its results in in-vitro assessments. This ingredient is positioned as an “immunity and energy booster”, aimed not only at supporting immune defenses but also at providing greater systemic resilience during periods of severe physiological stress or seasonal changes.
2. The new frontier: bone health
In a segment less crowded than the gastrointestinal or urogenital, SynBalance is launching a new patent-pending ingredient dedicated to bone structure, designed for adult and senior consumers. SynbÆctive® UnbreakaBone consists of two high-performing probiotic strains, selected from a panel of multiple candidates: L. gasseri – LG050 and L. paracasei – LPC1114. Preliminary data highlight that this combination acts specifically on bone metabolism: the strains “show activity in enhancing the concentration of markers involved with the bone formation” explains Silvia Castegnaro, Marketing Manager at SynBalance. Furthermore, an excellent improvement has been observed in calcium and phosphate deposition, supporting the ingredient’s potential application in addressing bone frailty, osteoporosis or other associated conditions.
3. Metabolic health: beyond GLP-1 trends
With increasing interest in and use of GLP-1 receptor agonists for weight management, SynBalance is advancing a science-based approach to metabolic health through precision probiotic supplementation. As a part of the expansion of its Metabolic & Weight portfolio, and following the launch of SynbÆctive® HeartIQ in 2025 for cardiovascular health, the company presented new clinical data on its flagship ingredient, SynbÆctive® MetSyn. Two clinical studies have been completed to date, the latest involving overweight and obese subjects and investigating the ingredient’s effects on metabolic parameters. According to Silvia Castegnaro, one of the most clinically relevant findings was that “the positive outcomes were directly linked to probiotic intake”, as no dietary restrictions were imposed on participants. Primary endpoints included modulation of key metabolic biomarkers, such as reductions in the HOMA Index for insulin resistance and HbA1c levels, as well as improvements in lipid profile parameters.
4. Expertise-driven R&D in Women’s Health: SynbÆctive® Femme
In the Women’s Health segment, SynBalance continues to build on the success of SynbÆctive® Femme, a formulation comprising L. plantarum PBS067, L. rhamnosus LRH020, and B. lactis BL050. The ingredient was recognized as Best Ingredient of the Year for the Microbiome Modulation category in 2024, and is backed by a decade of in vitro and clinical research. The efficacy of these strains has been validated by four completed clinical trials, with a fifth study in pipeline for 2027. Data demonstrate a strong capacity for vaginal colonization and a direct modulation of the vaginal microbiota, effects that have also been confirmed in menopausal women.
The evolution of these segments confirms that the future of probiotics lies in strain precision and clinical translation to systemic and extra-intestinal targets. A path that begins with a clear reminder about prevention: “You have to start from Yourself… and from your Core”.
