At the 13th World Congress on Probiotics, Prebiotics and New Foods, for the first time an entire session was dedicated to the veterinary field. Microbiomepost.com sat down with professor Alessandro Gramenzi to discuss the current knowledge of the gut microbiota in companion animals and the opportunities to modulate it through nutritional interventions. Professor Suchodolski (Texas University), a pioneer in highlighting the role of the gut microbiota in the health of dogs and cats, opened the session by underlining its clinical relevance. Dr. Carla Giuditta Vecchiato (University of Bologna), a board-certified nutritionist, further explored the impact of diet on intestinal microbial communities.

This session represented an important moment of scientific exchange and update, aiming to strengthen the connection between basic research and nutritional applications in veterinary medicine.
