At the upcoming 13th edition of the Probiotics, Prebiotics, and New Food Congress in Rome, Professor Emma Allen-Vercoe, PhD from the University of Guelph (Canada), will present groundbreaking research on the recovery of “missing” human gut microbes. Her talk, “Finding ‘Missing’ Human Gut Microbes in the Amazon”, will explore how studying non-industrialized populations such as the Yanomami of the Amazon has enabled the isolation and culture of novel gut microbes using the RoboGut technology.
Professor Allen-Vercoe will discuss the significance of these findings, their potential impact on human health, and the possibility of developing new-generation probiotics. She highlights the importance of broadening the scope of probiotic research beyond well-established strains, looking toward future candidates with untapped therapeutic potential.
