Oral microbiome could play a role in head and neck cancer

We discussed the role of the microbiome in HPV-positive head and neck cancer patients with Marc Oliva Bernal (Institut Català d’Oncologia, Spain).

In light of the latest results on the role of the microbiota as a biomarker in different types of cancer, a team of researchers has decided to explore the oral and gut microbiome in HPV-positive head and neck cancer patients with oropharyngeal carcinoma undergoing chemoradiotherapy.

We discussed the research findings with Marc Oliva Bernal (Institut Català d’Oncologia, Spain) in Milan during MIBIOC, the first international congress dedicated to the relationship between microbiota and cancer.
