“There is a strong relationship between gut dysbiosis, metabolic diseases and cancer”

Rémy Burcelin explains how understanding the link between gut microbiota, metabolic syndrome and cancer could be useful from a therapeutic point of view.

There is a strong relationship between intestinal microbiota, metabolic syndrome and cancer, with common molecular mechanisms.

In fact, in the case of intestinal permeability, bacteria can translocate to a given tissue, triggering metabolic inflammation and the failure of the immune system, thus raising the risk of developing cancer.

Rémy Burcelin, professor at Paul Sabatier University in Toulouse (France), explains how understanding these mechanisms could be useful from a therapeutic point of view.

We discussed the research findings with Rémy Burcelin in Milan during MIBIOC, the first international congress dedicated to the relationship between microbiota and cancer.
